Stitched Solar System Insanity

For some reason back at the start of the year I promised London’s Science Museum that I would make them a handmade Stitched Solar System (and added that it would be the biggest in the world). Famous last words and a surefire path to RSI.

With the help of some hard-knitting Stitch Londoners (to be named when the whole thing is done), my twin sister, Nehtheknits (who never knits) and Mr Sheepsketcher (another non-knitter) I have very nearly done it. Will it actually take its place in the Science Museum for Stitched Science this weekend? Only time will tell.

I’d better get back to stitching but here’s a sneak preview of the smallest part. A handknitted moon with a 40cm balloon inside it. Aaaaaaaooooooooooooooooo!!!

Watch this space to see if I end up imploding or if cosmic craft wins the day…

Balloon moooooooooon. I saw you standing aloooooooooooone...
